The University of Texas School of Public Health conducted a survey which examined alcohol abuse and dependence among Hispanic males in the United States. The study will be expanded to Mexican males living along the U.S.-Mexico border and is supported by a $1.5 million grant from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism. (NIAAA)

The DEA has seized approximately 6,000 U. S. meth labs in the past couple of years, opening up an opportunity for Mexican drug cartels to export the drug to th U.S.
Although Mexican authorities have also been working to keep the drugs used to make meth unavailable, the drug lords are finding ways to import the chemicals- thwarting the authorities’ efforts.
Recent clamp-downs by the U. S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) have included moving the over the counter drugs used to make meth (Pseudoephedrine , ephedrine) behind the counter; those efforts have not stopped Mexico from becoming the number one supplier for the drug.
The United Nations’ Office on Drugs and Crime recently released its annual World Drug Report which stated that there are 24.9 million users of methamphetamines world-wide, with more than 12 million meth addicts in the U.S.
